Our requirement for such skilled and qualified members of the workforce is growing at an impressive rate, as industry becomes significantly more dependent upon technology.

Many trainers provide a shelf full of reference manuals. Learning like this is dull and repetitive and not ideal for studying effectively. Where possible, if we can involve all our senses in the learning process, then we often see hugely increased memory retention as a result.

Locate a program where you're provided with an array of CD and DVD based materials - you'll begin by watching videos of instructors demonstrating the skills, and then have the opportunity to use virtual lab's to practice your new skills. It makes sense to see some of the typical study materials provided before you purchase a course. The minimum you should expect would be instructor-led video demonstrations and interactive modules with audio-visual elements.

Select CD and DVD ROM based physical training media where possible. You can then avoid all the difficulties of broadband 'downtime' or slow-speeds.

You should only consider study courses which will lead to commercially accepted accreditations. There's an endless list of minor schools pushing unknown 'in-house' certificates that are essentially useless when it comes to finding a job. From the perspective of an employer, only top businesses such as Microsoft, Adobe, CompTIA or Cisco (for example) really carry any commercial clout. Anything less just doesn't cut the mustard.
